It reminds me of a similar issue with music. If you stray from your own bookish pain for a moment and think about music … don’t you feel that the BEST music – the one that makes you feel, and that lasts and survives trends and hypes, often for decades – kinda always defies clear genres, and certainly always defies the usual chart stuff?

So take some strength from that in your marketing struggles. The fact that your target audience isn’t that easy to determine is just an indicator that you have created something of value, something thoughtful that stands for itself, something original.
