About the Author:
From his earliest years in the quiet town of Weston, Massachusetts, Jeff (Jeffrey Alexander to his parents) Greenberg exhibited a creative streak and a flair for fantasy. He held a deep affection for the Road Runner, Roger Rabbit, and Darkwing Duck, and could happily entertain himself for hours drawing his favorite characters while composing long, detailed stories about their adventures. “A happy little person living a happy little life,” as he described himself in fourth grade, Jeff lived with his parents, his little sister, Lindsay, and their yellow Lab, Boomer, filling his free time with tennis, basketball, skiing, swimming, and Nintendo.
Jeff’s passion for storytelling matured with his fascination for TV shows with complex characters and intricate storylines: House, Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Leftovers, Game of Thrones. At the same time, his academic curiosity led him to study cognitive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania with his mentor, Dr. Michael Kahana. “I was mesmerized by the brain’s ability to translate our complicated world into an environment humans can understand through memory, perception, and attention,” Jeff wrote in his application to graduate school.
Jeff began working on Isotopia in July of 2013 and was diagnosed with leukemia one year later. Despite the challenges of his disease, Jeff earned his master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology from Ohio State in 2015. He returned to the Boston area and worked as an outcomes analyst for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. He lived to the age of 26 and is dearly missed by all who knew him.
