About Me

A photo of me taken by a friend

After a brief career as a CPA, a midlife awakening — courtesy of True Blood and Twilight — led me to the wide, wonderful world of fanfiction. I entered as a reader but soon discovered a burning need to write my own what-if scenarios. Posting my stories chapter by chapter online, I discovered the unique joy of interacting with an enthusiastic community of readers, editors, graphic artists, and other writers.

After a while, my stories started to stray from those HEA boxes. That’s a bit of an issue for an unflinchingly romantic genre. Which started me thinking about the Big Questions of love: who, what, how, and especially why. Couple that with my interest in the fantastic cast of characters from classical mythology, and Cupid became my ideal storyteller.

Seeking to sharpen my writing, I began competing in online flash fiction contests. Sharing work with other writers has taught me so much about the essence of stories and along the way, I’ve gained invaluable critique partners and a network of truly talented friends. You can find some of my 100- and 1000-word flash pieces and the stories behind the stories here.

The Cupid’s Fall series is my passion project. I completed book one, First Quiver, eight years ago and have since completed all four books in the series. I’m so excited to share them now with you.

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, I currently live in a quiet suburb outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with my darling husband of many years. We are occasionally visited by our daughter and grand-dog, Slim. If you read this far, here’s a bonus random tidbit about me. When I was in sixth grade, I used to ride a unicycle to school.

What readers are saying about Quite the Pair:

“Beth Greenberg has captured my heart with this series ?. In ????? ??? ????, she once again combines steamy, sassy romance and the loyalty of friendship, all while peering into the Greek god’s lives like you’ve never seen them before. And I just adore Cupid. He is sweet, kind, and deserves to find his True Love, after getting his heart broken time and time again. But the gods are manipulative and egotistical, so who knows what will happen next.”~Susan Ballard, Goodreads

“What makes Quite the Pair really work is its focus on platonic love. That’s not to say that the love story isn’t on point, because it is, and it’s definitely a major focus. How could it not be? But what really pulled me in here is the idea of a different kind of love, and how we all have people (I hope) who are there for us no matter what, people who love us and root for us and help us find redemption. There’s a lot of kindness in these books and a lot of forgiveness, and it made me feel good while I was reading.”~Michelle H, Goodreads

“My favorite book in the series so far. I didn’t want to put it down!” Shelley, ARC Reader

What readers are saying about First Quiver:

“In Beth Greenberg’s hilarious low fantasy novel First Quiver, we meet the 3,375-year-old Cupid just as he’s banished to Earth, where he’s about to discover the highs and lows of human love for the very first time. The ironic catch? Cupid can’t have the woman he’s fallen deeply in love with; instead, he must find her true love match. A lighthearted and clever romp, mingling dating apps with ancient gods for just the right balance of silly and sweet.” ~Featured New Release, Reedsy Discovery Blog

“A fun, naughty romp… All in all, it’s a clever premise, carried out in a light, funny, and very competent way. Thoroughly enjoyable and just the sort of thing we all could use a read of these days.” 5 stars, “Must Read” ~Dorothyanne, Goodreads Reviewer

First Quiver hooks you from the very first sentence and keeps you entranced until the end. Sure as a shot from one of Q’s arrows, once it hits you, you’re smitten.” ~Lisa, Goodreads reviewer

“First Quiver was like a Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson , etc) for grownups – though I feel like that’s just…wrong. And also exactly why I loved it so much. First Quiver nails the tropes of the (super descriptive *sigh* romance) while throwing in just enough surprises to keep me turning the page. Greenberg’s plot is marvelous, her characters delightfully quirky while delivering the sex appeal. I never knew how much I needed a sensitive, used-to-be-unattractive dude who becomes a literal Greek god, but if she wants to send either Pan or Cupid my way, I wouldn’t complain. Not. At. All. 13/10 guilty pleasure and I cannot wait for book 2.” ~Michelle, Amazon reviewer

“The ending was very compelling and made me want to rush out and purchase the next book in the series.”~Emily, Goodreads reviewer

“Cupid is warm, Pan is heartbreakingly precious and the mortals are well written believable characters. The dialogue flows so well and it is just a fun read!” ~Nikki, NetGalley reviewer

Long Description:

Mischief is the only escape for the 3,375-year-old virgin of Mount Olympus, but when one of his arrows lands in the wrong rump, Cupid is banished to present-day earth and ordered to fix love.

Exiled from his cushy life as the favored prince of Aphrodite’s palace, Cupid plunges to Earth and lands in present-day Tarra, Indiana, where mortals go on about their daily routines, oblivious to the capricious gods stirring the pot from above. Reunited with his long-lost best friend Pan, Cupid delights in his earthbound erotic superpowers and the apparent freedom to explore his new gifts. His carnal spree comes to a screeching halt when he falls passionately in love for the first time in his lonely, sheltered life. Soon, Cupid understands the full measure of his punishment: he must find the true Right Love match for the mortal he desperately loves, and then he must let her go.

To complete his quest, Cupid must prevail over the violent throes of first love while battling the powerful gods conspiring against him for their own dark purposes. Failure will not be tolerated; success will cost him everything.

First Quiver pulls the reader inside the tension between duty and love, a conflict as old and immortal as the gods themselves. Fans of TV’s Once Upon A Time and Lucifer will enjoy this sexy romp drawn from Greek mythology, reimagined through an irreverent, contemporary lens. Fans of Circe will enjoy revisiting their favorite ancient gods, and readers who enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue will enjoy the magical bend of time.
